Joan M Lemire

Joan Lemire is listed as a co-author on Xenopus work from Michael Levin's laboratory, including studies of HDAC inhibition in tail regeneration and of the embryonic brain's effect on distant muscle12. Papers from the same laboratory also thank Lemire for molecular biology and cloning assistance356.

Co-authored Xenopus results

The tail regeneration paper lists Lemire among its authors. It reported that the HDAC inhibitor trichostatin A at 25 nM, given after tail amputation, cut regeneration by 62% on the Regeneration Index1. The brain paper, which also lists Lemire, concluded that the early embryonic brain matters for muscle structure forming at considerable distance2. The passages do not say which experiments Lemire carried out, so the individual contribution cannot be stated here.

Laboratory and molecular support

Acknowledgments from 2012 to 2020 name Lemire. A 2012 paper on neurally derived tissues thanks Lemire for Xenopus husbandry and general lab assistance4. A 2014 paper thanks Lemire, with Jean-Francois Pare, for molecular biology assistance3. Later papers repeat the thanks for molecular biology57. A 2020 paper on HCN2 channels thanks Lemire for cloning cDNAs into injection vectors6. Across these papers the role named most often is molecular biology.

A planarian citation

A 2017 paper on planarian regeneration in space cites a 2013 paper by Beane, Morokuma, Lemire and Levin. It places that paper among work linking bioelectric physiology to morphology in planarians8. The passage does not describe the 2013 paper's findings. It also does not say whether this Lemire is the same person, so the link is noted only as a possible one.
