Napoleon Cybulski
Cybulski co-authored an 1884 paper in Russian with Vassilie von Anrep on vaso-dilator and vaso-constrictor nerves, which Bayliss lists and discusses12. Cybulski also appears in Coenen and Zayachkivska's account as the teacher who set Adolf Beck a question about exciting a nerve along its path34.

Vasomotor nerve work
Bayliss (1915) gives the Anrep and Cybulski paper of 1884, "On the Physiology of the Vaso-dilators and Vaso-constrictors", in Russian, and points readers to a German yearbook abstract1. In his discussion of dilator and constrictor nerves, Bayliss reports von Frey (1876) and Asher (1909) on which nerve preponderates. He then names Anrep and Cybulski2. The passage breaks off there, so the held text does not show their result.
Teacher of Adolf Beck
Coenen and Zayachkivska say Beck became Cybulski's assistant in 18893. They credit Cybulski with suggesting that Beck study the electrical response of a nerve to sensory stimulation. The live question was whether a nerve can be excited at every point of its course4. Pflüger's avalanche theory held that excitation gathers strength as it travels5. Beck later paid tribute to Cybulski as a teacher and colleague6.
