What the held texts say about it

The held works say little about what this book argues. Lillie (1923) cites it once, in a footnote directing readers to "compare Bernstein's account" in chapter vi, p. 121. He uses it as a point of comparison for his discussion of bioelectric currents and electromotor surfaces in living systems. Crile (1926) cites only a different Bernstein paper, on the thermodynamics of bioelectric currents, so it does not use the book itself.

Compare Bernstein's account in his Elektrobiologie, chap, vi, p. 121.
